We had an awesome photoshoot with Gaylin in Maui. She had great advice on a couple of locations.

Getting closer to the date, she reached out to provide an update on local weather and advised we might have to switch and she was right to make that suggestion as our original location was not ideal on the day of.

Our new location in Paia was perfect. Quaint and cozy, with a few friendly sea turtles swimming around to top it all off!

Gaylin made us all feel very comfortable and provided great direction during the shoot. Our photos turned out really lovely and I've definitely got some favourites in the batch of moments she captured for our family.

Could not be happier with the experience. The Local Lens site is very user friendly and makes it easy to find a local photographer, rather than blindly searching for one. We were looking for an affordable, short mini-session and appreciated the transparent pricing and options. The ability to view, favorite, and download your pictures with your purchased credits was also very straightforward.

I wanted to capture candid photos of my girlfriend and me as I proposed to her at a beautiful location and then follow that with a surprise formal photoshoot. Gaylin was phenomenal from start to finish. I couldn't be happier about choosing to work with her on this shoot and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to do a vacation photo shoot in Maui. The Planning: I came into this with no idea where I wanted to do the proposal, so I had a lot of questions right out of the gate, but Gaylin was very responsive, patient, and accommodating throughout. She sent dropbox links with pictures and videos for multiple locations and multiple options at each location. She also included photos of some of her past proposal shoots to show samples of what some of the locations looked like. It really helped in making my decision and coming up with plans B and C if we needed to pivot for any reason. The Photoshoot: As we got closer to the shoot date, we swapped phone numbers so that she could text me with any last-minute updates regarding parking, weather, tide, etc., and so I could let her know what my fiance and I were wearing once we arrived at the location. Gaylin pretended to be another tourist taking photos of her husband and son as I led my fiance down to the spot where I would pop the question. She got some great candid photos of the actual proposal before coming down to introduce herself and surprise my fiance with the fact that I hired a photographer. She then directed an hour-long shoot for us and made it so much fun and light-hearted. We had a great time and ended up with a ton of great pictures. The Results: At the end of the shoot, my fiance and I were expecting to hear that the photos would be ready in a few weeks at the very earliest, but Gaylin said that she would have them submitted to Local Lens by the following morning! The package I initially purchased included 30 photos, but we ended up selecting 50 because there were just that many we couldn't live without! It has been over a week now, and I still can’t believe I pulled this off without my fiance suspecting a thing. She was completely blown away by the whole experience, and now we have an incredible story to tell for the rest of our lives, with the photos to prove it! I definitely couldn’t have done it without Gaylin’s professional help. This was truly one of the most magical moments of our lives. -Cameron

We booked a shoot because we wanted family pictures in Hawaii since we never get them here. We wanted some candid and fun shots of the family. Gaylin did a phenomenal job from start to finish on this photo shoot. Coming all the way from Arizona, I was not too familiar with the island but had a vision of what I wanted the shoot to look like as it was a surprise proposal shoot. Immediately, Gaylin reached out with some ideas that fit that vision. From there, her and I got to work on planning out the details (times, location, day, outfit etc). I can't emphasize enough how amazing she was through this whole process, she gave amazing suggestions and the pictures show all that! Even something as coming up with a great excuse to get my now fiancee ready at such an early time. She had no idea it was coming, and Gaylin really helped make that happen!

This is the first time that both my fiancee and I have done a legit photoshoot, so we were both nervous as I'm not really a photogenic person. Gaylin immediately started cracking jokes and lightened up the mood when the shoot began. This made it such a fun bonding experience for us! Omg where to start! We were two families traveling to Hawaii for vacation but then our friend decided he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, also my best friend while in Maui. I thought a photo shoot would be amazing so that the special moment could be captured.

I found Local Lens through a Google search and was very skeptical in the beginning because no photographers were reaching out. I was planning this a week before our vacay so I was stressing and decided that I needed to have a back up plan just in case. But then Gaylin reached out to me and we messaged back and forth on what our idea was for the proposal. She was so sweet and really helped plan this proposal, she gave me good pointers and ideas which I shared with the soon to be fiancé to get him prepared.

I must say, I was still so nervous leading up to that morning because I was think it what if she doesn’t show up lol! She recommended a 7:20am session, and we are from CA so this time worked perfect for us! The beach we chose was Kapalua Bay and being so early in the morning, it was not packed and the ocean water was still low so it worked out perfectly! We all showed up early lol. I had previously messaged her with the names of everyone so she knew who was the couple that was going to get engaged but we still did introductions and everyone felt really comfortable with her from the very beginning.

We started the photo shoot exactly how she suggested and then he proposed! Gaylin did such an amazing job at capturing the moment! She then broke our two families and took photos of each family individually. We all then came together and took pictures as a group.

I really appreciated that she asked us at the end if we wanted any particular pose or pictures and I right away jumped at the idea of taking pictures with my husband on the rocks given the water conditions. We also had a bottle of wine which we also popped open at the end to celebrate the engagement and she captured the moment so beautifully!

With that being said, I would 100% recommend Gaylin! She was so prompt with everything from her sweet ideas to the amazing photo shoot, and had our pictures uploaded within 3 days! We all watched the photos together and we were all in awe! Thank you Gaylin for all your help! We cannot wait to return to Maui and will for sure rebook with Gaylin! -Erika
