I had planned for a surprise proposal photoshoot with Gonzalo. He was very supportive and guided me throughout the planning stage right from our outfits to how the entry should be.

On the evening of the proposal, Gaby helped us capture a perfect video of the moment and Gonzalo took really great shots of the proposal.

Having done the photoshoot for the first time, we weren’t aware of any poses, Gonzalo and Gaby suggested so many unique poses and instead of it feeling like a forced pose we actually enjoyed taking pictures and had fun doing that.

AMAZING! Gonzalo and Gaby were nothing less than amazing!

I wanted to propose to Shay while on our trip and had tried contacting our resort with little luck, partly a language barrier and a cost prohibitive option. With less than a week before our trip to Mexico I did a Google search to find a photographer.

Enter Local Lens: the platform was easy to use and it was nice seeing the potential photographers available, their portfolios and prices upfront. Gonzalo was the first photographer to respond with available dates and times, I reviewed his profile and was happy with his previous work.

Originally we were going to have Gonzalo come to the resort, but once again, the resort wanted a massive amount of money to have an external photographer on site. At this point I was starting to stress out between the resort being uncooperative and the approaching deadline.

Gonzalo went above and beyond, recognizing the resort's failure to cooperate he offered to pick us up and take us to a few locations, after some deliberation we agreed on Playa Delfines and moved our session from the morning to the afternoon for better lighting for longer.

They were right on time to pick us up. Arriving at Playa Delfines, Gonzalo and I walk around to view the potential spots on the beach while Gaby distracted Shay so I could pass the ring box to Gonzalo and get some quick coaching for "The Moment". Perfect!

Gonzalo had us move around a few areas through some trees, a bench, some trails and other awesome little spots to loosen up. Then we go down to the beach for the Main Event.

On the beach Gonzalo does a few pictures to adjust lighting and angles then proceeds to direct us towards the waterline. With a little courage and Gonzalo's words of wisdom earlier, it all happened better than I ever wanted.

SHE SAID YES! (Although I never had any doubts!)

They spent the rest our session focusing on our moment and doing some iconic shots on the beach. The photos were quick to come and we purchased the whole set!

Not only were they amazing photographers, but they were also directors, conversationalists, discrete and sneaky when it counted! Gonzalo and Gaby, thank you for making this moment In our lives spectacular and unforgettable with the photos you took.

For example, he made calls to a local flower shop and multiple restaurants for reservations to ensure we had beach access. He received the flowers I ordered from the shop so that he could hide them on location right before the shoot. Even communicated with the restaurant staff so they helped by bringing the flowers out at the right time and playing a nice song for us.

As part of our Tulum vacation, my boyfriend set up a beach photoshoot “just because”. Little did I know, this was going to be the best surprise of my life as the photoshoot was to capture his proposal.

Gonzalo & his wife Gaby picked us up from our hotel. He was very careful in asking me any introductory questions since he was in on the surprise and didn’t want to ruin it. They were so sweet and told us a little about themselves too!

As we got to the beach, Gonzalo began with some initial photos of us & the scenery to start and then separated me and Steven to get an idea of where Steven envisioned the shoot to take place. (Still had no idea at this point!)

Gonzalo’s guidance on the poses & and his professional opinions when it came to the lighting/ positions were so helpful in capturing the special moment. We felt so at ease the whole time and he made the whole experience fun. Gaby captured the proposal with Steven’s camera in the background too which was amazing! We’re so happy to have a video of the moment as well and this is something Steven really cared about which is one of the reasons why he chose Gonzalo & Gaby in the first place.
